Youth Group
The youth of Tonganoxie United Methodist Church seek to experience God by inviting, connecting, growing and serving through a variety of programs for youth in grades 6-12.
During the school year, TUMC Youth meet on Sunday evenings in the youth room located in the basement of the church. All meetings begin with time of sharing and prayer in order to continue living in intentional Christian community. All youth sit down for a meal and fellowship from to give both groups a chance for some time together.
Middle School Youth Group | 5:00pm-6:00pm |
All Youth Meal & Fellowship | 6:00pm-6:30pm |
High School Youth Group | 6:30pm-7:30pm |
Each week has a different theme, inspired from the church’s mission statement. Unless otherwise stated, the first Sunday of the month is Inviting night, in which youth are encouraged to bring a friend and play games. The second Sunday is Connecting night, in which time is spent connecting with others in fellowship and Christian community. Worship night happens the third Sunday of the month and youth experience various ways of experiential worship and Bible study. Lastly, the fourth Sunday of the month is Serving night in which youth learn about groups or organization in our community or world and put their faith into practice by doing a service project for that group or organization.
Service Projects
In addition to weekly gatherings, TUMC Youth are active in service projects during the week and on weekends throughout the year. Each summer, High School Youth have the opportunity to go on a week-long mission trip to another city, and Middle School Youth have the opportunity for a week of service and mission to organizations in Tonganoxie, Kansas City, and Lawrence. These have proved to be meaningful experiences for not only the youth, but the adult volunteers who assist the youth.
Fun Outings
TUMC also participates in fun outings throughout the year. Past outings have included escape rooms, bowling, arcades, laser tag and go-karts, ice skating, and nights at the movies.
