In the act of worship we have the opportunity to encounter a living God who speaks to us and to be accepted, loved, healed, transformed, and equipped for service in God’s world. We believe that being in worship together with other Christians is an integral part of living into the purpose to which God is calling us as a community of faith, especially as it allows us opportunities for connecting with each other and growing in our faith.
In all of our worship services, whether on Sunday morning or during special holidays, we spend time singing God’s praises, reading the scriptures, praying together, and reflecting on what God’s word might be saying to us in the midst of our lives today. We celebrate communion in both services on the first Sunday of each month.
On Sunday mornings, we offer both contemporary (8:30am & 11:00am) and traditional (9:45am) forms of worship. Both styles take place in the sanctuary, and both feature the same scripture, prayers, and sermon. Our Contemporary service features songs you might hear on Christian radio as well as newer versions of popular hymns, all led by guitar and keyboard. Most people wear jeans and enjoy a cup of coffee before this relaxed worship atmosphere! Our traditional service is draws on some of the historic strengths of the church – we sing hymns, often accompanied by either organ or piano, and often the Handbell or vocal choir perform special music. Dress is slightly more formal, and you will see a mix of jeans, coats, and ties – though you will be warmly welcomed no matter how you dress.
We understand that there are going to be Sundays that you will not be able to make it to worship. Because of this, we stream every service live on Facebook. Even then, sometimes life happens.
We want to do everything we possibly can to help you connect with Guide through our message given on Sunday mornings. We capture every sermon on video post it to our sermon archive the following week. Here you can catch up on a sermon series or browse are collection of dozens of other previous sermon series we have done.
TUMC Kids is all about serving kids and their families of the Tonganoxie community. We would love to have you us for Sunday School each week at 9:45am during the school year. We also do many great events throughout the year, including Vacation Bible School in the summer!
