We say it without even thinking about it. “I’m fine.” It’s become the culturally appropriate response to when people ask how we are doing. It rolls off our tongues without even thinking about it. But let’s think about it.

Sometimes our schedules are so packed that we can barely keep our heads above water. Sometimes we look at our countless Facebook friends and work acquaintances…and it leaves us feeling even more isolated and hungry for meaningful connection. Sometimes the whole world seems angry, and people are more focused on division than tolerance. Sometimes, Faith itself seems dry – maybe even pointless – and we check out and feel unfulfilled.

But we still say, “I’m fine.” At what point will we admit that “I’m fine…”, really isn’t fine?
