Tonganoxie United Methodist Church is committed to planting and nurturing the seeds of faith so that our children take root in Christ and grow maturely. As a community, our goal is that our children grow on a foundation of God’s love and basic bible principles.
Each Sunday at the 11:00 a.m. worship service there is a children’s time early in the service where all children are invited to join up front for a sharing moment.
Sunday School begins at 9:45 am in the downstairs classrooms for Pre-K through 5th grade: in three separate classrooms:
|Class 1||Pre K – 1st Grade|
|Class 2||2nd and 3rd Grade|
|Class 3||4th & 5th Grade|
During Sunday School we teach and show God’s love to children in ways that the kids can relate. Our teachers have a genuine heart for God and communicate God’s love to each child and are committed to Christ-like behavior both in and out of the classroom.
Blessings of the Backpacks
The last Sunday before the new school year begins almost 100 students’ backpacks are blessed during our Sunday services and students receive name tags for their backpacks.
Back to School Bash
The last weekend prior to pool closure for the season we host a fun evening at the Tonganoxie Water Park for all ages with swimming, games, and snow cones.
The Friday before Halloween we offer a stop in the city-wide Spooktacular with candy, games, and more.
The kids do programs for Advent and Christmas holidays.
The Sunday before Lent starts, 3rd graders receive their Bibles during church services.
A six-week study on Tuesdays after school during Lent. At the end of the study, 3rd graders will know the basic structure of the Bible, be able to find passages of scripture, recite the Lord’s prayer and select scripture passages; and incorporate daily prayer and scripture reading as spiritual disciplines in the own lives.
Vacation Bible School
A week-long event action-packed theme event in June).
All of our staff and volunteers must complete Safe Gatherings training and remain up-to- date in certification. Our primary focus is love. Children are precious in God’s eyes and we want them to experience the love of God and feel connected and safe while in our care. We strive to model what it means to be an authentic follower of Jesus Christ.
